We are delighted to welcome Portwest, the world’s fastest growing work wear and safety manufacturer, to the Enterprise Ireland stand at Fieldays Online 2020.
A third generation family owned business, at 116 years old Portwest has grown from a small retail business in the West of Ireland creating high-quality workwear to a global manufacturer designing and distributing protective clothing, safety footwear, specialist accessories, and personal protective equipment from its five bases in Ireland, Poland, Dubai, the UK, and the US, to more than 84 countries through 3,000 safety distributors.
In an average year, Portwest has about 1,200 products for sale. It adds 150-200 new items every year that in addition to being high-visibility and meeting stringent safety standards, also incorporate heating/cooling materials as well as being flame, dust, and UV resistant, ideal for farmers and outdoor workers, such as its ultrasonic heated tunnel jacket that uses embedded carbon fibre heated panels to give extra warmth to the wearer and incorporates a rechargeable battery that offers 3-10 hours of heat for long days out on the farm.
Their sister company Huski also sells a Farmers Wet Weather collection, with exceptional waterproof protection, wind resistant fabric and importantly for farmers, four-way stretch fabrics for ease of movement.
Portwest’s aspirations are to be the market leader of Safety and PPE products in New Zealand and Australia. With the agricultural sector consistently recording the highest number of workplace injuries and fatalities in New Zealand as well as having to work outdoors in every type of weather, we are sure they will be warmly welcomed by farmers and agricultural workers across the country.
