Exporting is crucial to Ireland’s economic future, particularly as the world recovers and business evolves to address multiple challenges. In these changing times, it’s never been more important for Ireland to grow its global trade footprint.
Each year, Enterprise Ireland hosts an event called International Markets Week 2021 where our more than 40 international offices and market advisors meet with Enterprise Ireland clients to offer insight into foreign markets and help accelerate their internationalisation strategies.
The 2021 event held virtually was themed: ‘Global Recovery. Irish Opportunity’ and launched by Teosinte Leo Varadkar and Enterprise Ireland’s CEO Leo Clancy. The Tánaiste remarked: “The past 18 months have been incredibly difficult for businesses and while we are not fully there yet, there are many reasons to be hopeful. Our priority throughout has been to save as many jobs as possible and to help struggling businesses stay afloat, so that when the recovery came, businesses could bounce back quickly.
The five-day event was attended by nearly 700 clients, requesting 1,600 + individual meetings. This shows the strong performance of Irish exporters despite the challenges faced with the COVD-19 pandemic and the new trading relationship with the UK since Brexit.
We are looking forward to next year’s International Markets Week where we hope we will be back in Ireland and meeting face to face.
