Irish business was highly visible across Australia and New Zealand at several key events during 2018. We profile our key events below, including St. Patrick’s Day and key trade shows in the region.
St Patrick’s Day
In March of this year, Enterprise Ireland held events across Australia and New Zealand celebrating another year of Irish business success in the region. We were joined by a wide range of Enterprise Ireland backed companies who’ve built a presence in the market as well as prominent members of the Irish and Australian business community.
We were also proud to welcome two Irish Ministers across Australia and New Zealand. Minister for Justice and Equality Charlie Flanagan spoke of the abiding relationship between Ireland and Australia and the pride Ireland takes in the Irish diaspora in Australia. Jim Daly, Minister of State at the Department of Health visited Australia and New Zealand and spoke around the strong relationships between the countries.
Routes to Growth Asia Pacific Conference 2018
In April 2018, over 100 business leaders and buyers from the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region came together with over 200 Irish companies at the Routes to Growth Asia Pacific Conference in the Aviva Stadium, Dublin, Ireland. This event strongly highlighted the plethora of opportunities and innovative solutions coming out of Ireland and how the APAC market can benefit from this.
Enterprise Ireland’s Australian Equine Delegation to Ireland
In May, an Australian delegation visited a cluster of Irish companies providing innovative, cutting-edge products and expertise to support elite performance in all aspects of the equine industry. Covering everything from stable equipment and veterinary products to nutrition and diagnostics, these companies are making an impact on the equine industry globally as well as on the ground in Australia.
Enterprise Ireland’s Australian HR Delegation to Ireland
In June, delegates on Enterprise Ireland’s Australian HR Delegation to Ireland attended the World Employment Conference in Dublin and also took a deep dive into Ireland’s innovative HR tech ecosystem where they encountered a range of exciting workforce solutions.
Ireland Stand at Fieldays New Zealand
In June, Enterprise Ireland hosted their 12th year of the ‘Ireland’ stand at Fieldays New Zealand, exhibiting some of the best Irish Agribusiness innovation together with our sister agency, Invest Northern Ireland. Enterprise Ireland hosted nine leading Irish Agribusiness firms at the show, helping build on the already strong relationship forged between Irish and New Zealand Agriculture.
A Gala dinner was also held at Wintec in Hamilton which brought together attendees from the New Zealand and Irish government, third level research institutions and the broader agricultural industry.
Ireland Stand at Bain Fallon Memorial Lectures 2018
This year, Enterprise Ireland hosted an Ireland National stand at the Bain Fallon conference in Darling Harbour, Sydney with five clients exhibiting. Held by the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA), the conference brought together key players and thought leaders within the equine veterinary space such as vets, vet owners and veterinary distributers and suppliers over the course of four days. This was Enterprise Ireland’s first year holding a stand at the event with a cluster of Irish companies providing innovative, cutting-edge products and expertise to support elite performance in all aspects of the equine industry. Covering everything from stable equipment and veterinary products to nutrition and diagnostics, these companies are making an impact on the equine industry globally as well as on the ground in Australia.
Ireland National Ploughing Championships 2018
September saw Enterprise Ireland participate at the National Ploughing Championships with around 60 Enterprise Ireland-supported startups exhibiting in the innovation arena. The National Ploughing championships is the largest agriculture event in Ireland with around 1,700 exhibitors, 300,000 visitors and an ever-growing global interest.
Enterprise Ireland’s International Markets Week 2018
In October, the annual International Markets Week conference was held in Dublin. Over 400 Irish companies attended a series of one-to-one meetings with experienced Market Advisers from our global network of 33 offices, covering over 100 different countries. Representatives from Enterprise Ireland’s Australian and New Zealand office met with clients to discuss their plans for the region and offer advice and assistance. Priority sectors for the Australian and New Zealand markets included solutions across Fintech, Telco, Construction, Engineering, Digital Tech, HR and Ed Tech, Sports Tech, Digital Health, Agriculture, Equine, Consumer and Travel Tech. The key objective of International Markets Week is to help Irish companies increase global export sales and Identify new international export opportunities.
Australia’s Fintech Week
The end of October saw 11 companies participate at Fintech Week across Sydney and Melbourne. The companies attended industry events Intersekt and SIBOS. Patrick Donovan TD, Minister of State at the Department of Finance was present to host both Enterprise Ireland’s events during the week. This sector continues to grow from strength to strength with Ireland leading the way for solutions.
